2. WALKING THROUGH THE VONDELPARK

The Vondelpark is the most popular park in Amsterdam. It’s a very calm place with a lot of nature, like gardens and trees. For a warming cup of tea or hot chocolate, go to the Groot Melkhuis, which is open in the winter. They even have a fireplace to warm you up.

3. SEEING ART IN THE RIJKSMUSEUM

The Rijksmuseum is the most famous museum of the Netherlands, there are over 5000 paintings, but the most famous painting is the Night Watch, made by Rembrandt van Rijn.

5. ZAANSE SCHANS

The Zaanse Schans is a unique place in North Holland where you can look at the typical Dutch windmills, but also visit for example the cheese factory or the wooden barns. If you want to see the view of Zaandam, you go upstairs (when you’re up to it while pregnant) on a windmill and enjoy the beautiful view of parts of Holland.

6. GO FOR THE DUTCH FOOD

Go for the Dutch food (bitterballen, cheese, stroopwafel, poffertjes, haring)                                                                    

Of course, you don’t want to miss the delicious food from Holland, for example, bitterballen, cheese, stroopwafels, poffertjes or haring with onions. The warm snack called ‘Bitterballen’ are balls filled with ragout and the outside is a crispy crust.  Stroopwafel is delicious cookie filled with caramel syrup. Poffertjes are like mini pancakes. You can compare it with a flat marshmallow. And the last one is Haring. Haring is a fish, popular in fish-town Volendam with onions on it. There is a special way you can eat it, but how? You can visit the Netherlands and try it by yourself!
In November and December, you can try lots of ‘pepernoten’, a small round sort of cookie and according to Dutch tradition, a children’s treat for ‘Sinterklaas’ celebrations.
