Changing Bag Review
For our first child, my husband requested I buy a changing bag that he felt comfortable using too – so no flowers or girly colours then. More practical, functional and if possible black. It was a reasonable request so I shunned all the beautiful bags and got one that both of us could use.
This time around, I felt I could treat myself to one that was just for me, after all, we still have the old changing bag for daddy duties. There are so many fabulous designs on the market it was difficult to choose, but in the end, I opted for a chic little number from Séraphine, a chic boutique specialising in maternity fashion and a favourite for such gorgeous celebs as Kate Hudson, January Jones, Jessica Alba and Hallé Berry no less. I felt I was in good company.
The bag I went for was the Séraphine Tote Changing Bag in navy and I love it. It is vast, which is perfect for me as I tend to like to take everything with me “just in case”. There is plenty of room for nappies, wipes, a change of clothes, sunglasses, wallet, keys, books for little ones, books for me etc and I love the fact there are lots of pockets (five inside in total) to divide up all the clutter that accompanies me daily. There is a handy separate compartment at the base for extras you want to keep separate and within easy access which does make it stand rather wide but I like that as things don’t get squashed.
I fell for the colour – not boring black but just that shade different to give it some class – and it is made of wipe-clean faux leather so it is practical too, and waterproof. The lining inside is spill-proof – see, practical. It comes with a detachable shoulder strap so it can be hooked over the arms of a pram and has its own matching changing mat.
It feels well made and durable, the sort of purchase that should last the years, which is good news as it doesn’t look like a changing bag so I can use when I am no longer on mummy duty but more lady about town. The price tag is £75 which reflects the quality. They have others too so take a look at www.seraphine.com.

I have also spotted another great maternity company called Babes with Babies that stocks some equally gorgeous things for mummies, including some rather fetching changing bags that again caught my eye. Gorgeous mamas Dannii Minogue and Denise Van Outen have both been seen out and about with one of their Nico Red Hot Baby Changing Bags on the arm. It comes in a glorious patent red and costs £199 so are certainly one to covet, as is the Lily Designer Leather Bag in burnt orange, coming in at £269. This one even has its own removable ‘baby organiser’ lining unit so that is can transform from a changing bag to a handbag – genius. To see more beautiful things, visit www.babeswithbabies.com
